Rogers Pass part two

freeride under fire

Insert: 06.11.2012
The second part about freeride at Rogers Pass is bringing a freeride under fire from armys cannons. Of course it will not be about any scary situation but a bit about a preventive avalanche action from Canadian army. But you can read more in following article.

In addition to your own individual physical condition there are only minor restrictions which curb your desire to ride every each powder line you see. The fact that the whole area of Rogers Pass is tight by an avalanche control. That at the slightest suspicion that the avalanche could fall  on the road, is calling an army to shoot above mentioned avalanche face from a cannon. And certainly the last thing you want is that you in your pure powder turn you are hit by shrapnel in the head. Therefore, it is necessary to check every day, if your selected face is under attack. This can be easily done via the Internet - if you're online - or visit the information center in the National Park Pass. Quite a pleasant side-effect of the presence of the army in Rogers Pass is then Army bar serving drinks for state-subsidized prices

There are couple of nice huts without any service it is possible to sleep for couple of dollars. If you are bored by sleeping in a tent or at the parking lot. There are slo some other places reachable by the highway about 80kms on the West is Revelstoke and on the other side is a town called Golden. Those are fully equipt resorts by everything you need. ATM at the begining at a liker store at the end.

We have really enjoyed those four months we have been on this amazing place. It has really charm works at a gas station, where there is no petrol, drive to work on skis and spend most of our time feeding ravens by old sandwiches. Perhaps the only drawback was the owner of the whole crazy place. He reminded a crazy circus in clearing, where in this place - that was originaly created for skiing - he hated skiers and snowboarders and harm them where he could. That was about the only small black point in the otherwise great winter at a place where the bears are giving goodnight. Powder is like a champagne and you can dive in it and there is more untouched placec that our powder to ride them.

Howgh, I am finished here.
