This is Engelberg!

Engelberg resort in December.

It's here! The first real trip to Big Mountain has taken place in Switzerland. All of us Zdenda, Mara and me David have brought unforgettable experiences. Everything began with a good accommodation offered by Robin, with who I was dealing about snow conditions before our departure. Continuous laying senseless questions and accessing to a snow forecast did not do us much smarter. Anyway we decided to visit this resort in which none of us have been before.

Marek:

Set out from Třince and at 8:30 am picked up David. Than we went to Rožnov for the last member of our crew, who is Zdenda. In Rožnov we stopped at Klikoš for a camcorder tripod and some valuable advices such as photographing in both foggy and sunny conditions. Then Zdena got it and we were all set. It seemed that the way will be infinite because the stop at Nine crosses for the food and shopping in Plzen were taking valuable time off. Anyway Hyundai iX55 with navigation at 23:00 drove us to our dream Swiss Engelberg, Obermatt, 6388 Grafenort CH, www.berghaus-klondike.ch. It's an old wooden house, where are several rooms and where the boss is Jarošek from Brno, who has the respect of all visitors. After arrival we gave a miss call to Fidas’s cell phone who come out and showed us our room and explained all the rules to be followed. Then we all lay down to fell a sleep with thaughts of powder days.

In the morning we met the rest of the settlers. Got familiar with Jaróškem who archived us by taking a picture and putting it into a chronicle. It was mega fast! Unexpected photo at breakfast and then printed right away took only 2 minutes to be glued into the chronicle. Since there was a bad weather, all decided to rest, except us. We found out how to get up the hill, took ski passes an set out asap. We arrived at the parking where was a little foggy and snowy. But we were horny, so we went in a full armor into the unknown resort and so it was throughout the day. There was nothing to see. We were exhausted after every ride and just as we suspected how  the resort big is. On the way up in cable car we were together with for about 100 000 zipper heads, who was taking pictures of everything, including us. We stood as a model mainly me Mara. I savored Indeed, it was shoot finally by somebody. After returning to the Klondike (name of cabin), we cooked, chatted, watched a movie and went to bed totally exhausted.

Zdenda:

It is neccessery to make a  note here. On "Klondike" were not good health well-being at the point we arrived! In the incredibly sophisticated climate system an unknown virus was flittering, which some participants unexpectedly shortened the stay.

After the first day when the snowfall and fog did not end up, we woke up into an identical weather situation. Some settlers who had already spent a long time here seen as cooler approach to getting up early, which can not be said about us! After breakfast went into the rocky hills Engeberg. We are incredibly excited even when the weather is not the best. We use every meter fog eye, which formed in the upper parts of the location. Mainly snowig and ever-growing blanket of pow din not leave us cold. After 7 hours, we were pretty K.O, but the feeling of shreding the pow overlaped the tiredness. On arrival at the cabin, we have divided the tasks and how the previous day we cooked pasta with sauce. After that the real fatigue come. Mandatory " night movie " more enjoyabled moments in "Klondike".

David:

Day three was slightly better weather, where the clouds dropped a little lower so we could finally see where we were. Beautiful panorama with a lot of vertical peaks. However, for the rest of the the day the clouds covered same level of the mountain so we could explore anything new and thus we were all the rotaing around two top lift under the peak called Titlis.

The day was slightly better than the previous one, where the mist went down, so we could see the tip of our skis. At the end ofthe day on the way to Klondike were dumping a lot and after seeing the forecast for the next day we knew that if the clounds spred out in the afternon the next day will be a real pow pow. Upon arrival, we followed our classic which is pasta with sauce, chat, and getting into "bedle" says shaman (Jarošek).

The shaman is not an IT dum, thus he plays every morning via the Internet American country radio, in which plays a real classic. Each of us liked it because, waking ups is a lot easy. In  D-Day after sausage breakfast, we immediately went to the hill where we arrived just in time. Azuro! Finally! Occurs panic! Untouched plains all around us. We do not know where to start first. Finally, we choose the first untouched lines where I sacrifice and shooted Zdenda in the pow. I was a beautiful photo which was Zdenda very proud of and me too. With satisfied photo we go forward with enthusiasm! Laub has endless runs ends up to at the station Trübsee. Another ride was glacier, where we looked for a cracks and for sure going to along already made runs. Super run with many opportunities. The only disadvantage is the shadow covers most areas of the resort. We learn, however, that in February, the situation is reversed. Locations for a pictures were not to much, but despite that we have benefitted most. We all enjoyed this day... . Shooting pics, which we now remember, except for Mara who might allow us to make a picture next time.

Next day the same condition. So we dont panic, but judiciously choose the correct line. Shooting the photos Zdenda makes films Mara is riding. We explored the next part of the resort called Jochstock. So many opportunities to hike, we have never seen before! Just countless. The only disadvantage is the shadow (not really good for makeing a picture).

Finally, I would like to say that the resort has lot of to offer in terms of real big mountain lines with very long runs. Shadow seemed as a disadvantage in most part of the resort in the beginning of the season and then almost impossible to ride in bad, foggy weather. Otherwise, the resort is pretty good, from which everyone took unforgettable experiences .
