A study strip to Alpe d´Huez

A study strip to Alpe d´Huez

Freeride for 3 credits to index

At the begining I have to say that study at the Faculty of PT and sports on the Charles University is not such boring like it looks. Tell me, where you can go to the Frech Alps to Alpe d´Huez to ride a powder and you can also get a credits for your studies? But I will not bother you with my study things.

We went to France on Friday the 8th of January, in the greatest snow calamity, which in itself merits decent conditions. Among many others traveled with us Dušan Balla, who spent last summer in the parks in New Zealand riding next to Tanner Hall, or a new freestyle telemark hope Vojtěch Veselý, skicross rider Víťa Starý and other stars. After seventeen (!) hour journey by bus (before Rozvadov hard alcohol away, somewhere in the middle of Germany's beer went away too, so terrible way) we arrived somewhere in the mist, waiting for the keys to the "apartments" So we spent in ski-room. "Apartments" are in parentheses deliberately, as a real apartment resembled only equipment, not size. Just to illustrate, apartment for 5 persons apartment = 1 +0, bunk bed with mattress also in the kitchen and the couch with a mattress extra.

The second day (and the first skiing) has completely turned our mood as we welcomed to blue sky and nearly 35 cm of a new snow. All the storage level to his ears so took to create new lines unbroken powder. The whole first day we could afford to spend in the vicinity of lifts, without pedaling, and still go every ride in the new terrain with fresh powder. Worth noting is frontflip on telemark skies done by Vojtěch, on his back, but skied. The next day did not snow, but we had not nearly explored all the possibilities of the resort, so we have constant sun appeared more and more powder corners of the resort.

Third day was as the previous, but we had to time to time hike up, but lines always worth a little effort. In the evening we were invited to the opening party on the occasion of the World Cup in skicross. Understand - food, drink, all gratis. Half an hour before midnight, however, came something that probably in Alpe d'Huez just do not forget. Renowned musical group on stage was replaced Trio - Mgr. Slávek Vomáčko, Phd., Tomáš Houba, Jaroš and Boris. The former teacher and head of ChU PT and sports my bachelor's thesis, two students at the same faculty. The rhythm of E! E, and like them we danced until the next day. Next day was snowing all the day long. During the night we got about 40cm of fresh powder. So incrediblle conditions.
The fifth day we got a little bit cloudly sky and it began snowing again. The sixth day everything went to normal and we got a crispy blue sky.

So I would make a conclusion. This trip was GREAT! The snow conditions were amazing. So I would like to thanks for the support to Norwegian wear Bergans, underwear Devolt and RedBull.

Lines to ski:
These seven lines are only a small piece from the resort.

1 + 2
From the top station Funitels Marmottes III. we go right along the ridge, as snow is possible to go skiing, roughly in the middle a bit hiking. For the "highest" peak to offer three schemes, in order of difficulty (the outermost ends narrow couloirs between rocks). If we continue on the crest, arises with our beautiful addition and perhaps the best views and the best ride. At least 400 meters wide, relatively steep, and above all a real long snow field. In the right in the middle of rocks, the left is totally clean. This line ends up in the valley of the brook, which leads downhill to the chait lift Alpaurius.

3
From the funitel Marmottes III. We can see three steeps couloirs right under the cabin, which is possible to ride from the top station.

4
From the top Signal de l´homme we can go to the right side towards the ridge. It is way to the four chair lift form Auris en Oisans. There we can find nice snow field with the small rocks.

5
Under the chair lift Alpauris you can ride down to the valley and there get the lift again to the top. It is all the time between rocks so good snow conditions are needed.

6
From the last station of cabin Poutran II we are going towards top Signal and we are hiking there on the ridge. There are several couloirs towards cabin Poutran. Beware of the avalanches here.

7
From the last chair lift Vallonnet (above the Vaujany resort) we can go to the right side and there is a snow field which is full of small rocks. It the case of good snow conditions it is possible to ride to the Villette cabin station.
