Season in the U.S. & how to get there

Series of winter season of David Knybel in Utah

Insert: 08.10.2009
In the last year of bachelor studies, I and my girlfriend wondered what to do next. Continue the master studies or take a break and go for the winter season over the ocean. Skiing in the U.S. was one of my big dreams and furthermore I could not stand watching all those videos where the snow is so soft and so deep. At that moment we had enoght of studies se we’ve decided for the second option. So, after successfully passing the state exam, we went for 4 months to England, where we working on a great trip to USA!!
Salt Lake City - Airport
The Canyons - ski resort
Rocky Mountains US,UTAH

I was responsible for place selection and my girlrfriend find the right work for us. As a place of our future staying, I choose two destinations that have been in terms of riding the best and most famous, ad it was Colorado and Utah. Both of these locations offer the best conditions for my most loved sport, so we started looking for a work, actually my friend. So, we went to "www.google.com" and just simply, entered " winter jobs in Utah “ and began searching all the links, companies, departments, employment agencies, etc. Finally, we have found Snowmass - who was offering jobs in Aspen (Colorado ) - which was very interesting for us, but unfortunately they have their applications for foreigners already closed, so we focused on Utah. Thanks to "Snowmass" we got a contact on a guy who was looking emloyess for the resorts in Utah.  He was operating at "www.snovine.com." We contacted him and stating discussing details such as date of arrival to the U.S., ski resort selection and most importantly - the choice of work. All these details were over the email and ultimately over the phone.

Regarding to resort selections, we decied for The Canyons resort (www.thecanyons.com) Park City, Utah. Thanks to this position of the resort  we had a good strategic spot  coz  destinations such as Salt Lake City was about 30 minutes away on Highway 80 and others resorst such as Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Powder Mountain could be reach within 2 hours witch was awesome.

When I was choosing the work, I had a straight vison what to do - lift operator ( "liftie") - all day on the mountains, riding as I wanted, just great - and everything for free. So the objective of finding the work was accomplished and the last thing to do was to find an accomodation which was no fun at all.

After a long time of searchich the right spot to live we managed to find the Argentinian pair, who knew something, so we promptly wrote them asking them what thay have, where etc. After several exchanges of emails, and sending money in advance over the  MoneyGram for for the apartmen’s deposit, averything was sattled up and it ment that last thing which was remaining was how to get there.

Following previous findings, when the season starts, we booked tickets as soon as it was possible with the fact that the reservation os skies had to be done separately, but without any major problems and no additional charges. I had a Dakine ski bag on wheels, which is able to take up two pairs of skis + boots, and as it turned out the bag fulfilled its purpose and brought my equipment to that destination without any damage.

On the 30th of November our departure was scheduled to Utah - Park City. All ski gear was packaged - money in the pocket, so nothing was standing in our way. From Prague, we flew to New York from New York to Salt Lake City, where a shuttle was waiting for us after the previous booking. Upon arrival, without delay, we boarded the shuttle which drove us to the address in about 1 hour.

Aftern short time of finding the right apartment we finally found it. After knocknig on the door and than opened by Argentinian couple with smile on their faces we relieved and happy to lie down, coz we got there at 1 oclock in the morning.
