We have new riders who will be sending reports from their trips and powder expeditions to Powderline.eu. Božák bros have their almost home resort Austrian Tauplitz and Rieseneralm resorts. Be prepared for news from not only that area.

In the Saturday´s afternoon on January 26 we were disgusted with the result of the presidential election. So we went to Tauplitz. Previous snowfall in the whole Austrian Styria was promising perfect powder conditions.

On Sunday morning we went with my brother enthusiastically towards Tauplitzalm. It was time to try a new SLR and especially after a two-week break, have good powder day. The weather was a bit foggy character, but with good visibility and epic acting sky. Into the field, no one was thinking about perfect snow conditions.  Due to the terrain character of the resort, which is quite open, the snow was beaten by wind and frozen to death. But that's did not make any obstacles - skier can ride on everything, not just in powder. The first day there was therefore in the spirit of the crust compaction techniques and testing new Pentax.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we spent at Riesneralm. Especially on Monday and Tuesday we were forced to hide in the forest of Riesneralm because of the windy and foggy weather. Snow in the forest was not so much beaten by wind like on Tauplitz and we had quite nice turns thank to the northern face orientation. And a gain, we tried to camera capabilities, especially his ability to shoot video, which you can see below this article.

Thursday forecast was predicting stronger thaw, so we decided to look at the first time to Planneralm. Unfortunately the weather conditions allowed to run only 2 T-bar lifts. We took one of the them to the highest point and tried to hike up a bit more over the ridge, so we could have a nice line through the couloirs. The wind was so strong that we could not even put our skis on and had to be careful otherwise we might see our gear on the other side of the valley.  So we finished the day early and had a small rest.

On Friday, we decided again to choose Riesner. Some snow came up so we stayed at Tauplitzalm and we were right. We had a great powder conditions and despite of a foggy weather we enjoyed some faceshots all around the resort.

The scenario of our trips is almost always the same. When we leave from the sport, it stars to snow and it is snowing hard. Fortunately, this time it was so that on Wednesday we were back in the middle of Styria full force ripping powder that fell during our absence. But more about that on that in a report no.2.
