Traditionally, almost every year sally out a bunch of Robin, Fiďas and mony others one month before Christmas to Engelberg, where they start their season. This year was no different, so when I got Robin’s offer to go with them, it was clear for me. At first I figured if this trip is in my financial possibilities and a few days later I packed my suitcase and we set off.

Planned outgoing is on Friday, November 26, but because Fíďa had lot of work in the shop we go a day later. Along the way we stop in Prag at Robin, where we hold in one more night, but early in the morning we finally go to the goal of our journey. After arrival in village Obermatt Fiďas shows me the place of our stay. The wooden hut called Berghaus-Klondike is really original and still more original is the owner, who says himself Shaman. After we settled each of us got from Shaman his own indian nickname and also name of our settlement too, drank a welcome tot with him and we went to sleep. In the morning at breakfast Shaman snapped a photo of us and immortalized it in one of his guest chronicles, where he didn’t forget to write our nicknames and name of our „settlement“.

In the morning hours we come to the ski center, where we purchared the autumn season tickets, which costs 290 CHF for entire month, children for 220 CHF, which is compared with one day ticket (60 CHF) much better. Then, finally, we take a cable car and we go to powder. Conditions aren’t as powdery as we imagined, we’re a little disappointed after first ride next to the ski slope. Snow is rough, rutted, some places stick up rocks and therefore we move to the part of the center, which is called Laub. At Laub are the cards completely changed, there are only a few rutted places, you can choose clean lines and snow is great. For the rest of the day we ride just here, as the final line we choose the glacier part, which starts with powder, but the end is a little bit worse. Our first day ends and we go back to Klondike.

In the evening comes another part of the group – Robin & Family and with them also Roman Heczko. We acquaint them with the snow conditions and in the morning we set out to the slope again, this time in bigger number. Conditions are still getting worse, but for the first skiing we were all satisfied. At the end of the week come another reinforcements – Alfy and Filip Sedlák. After them the very next day the Fiďasi’s bunch from Havířov (Zemič, Spider, Pípa, Mates and Hanka). Klondike is slowly starting to fill and entertainment at the evening sitting is increasing.

Next morning gets us out of bed a nice surprise, about 40 cm of fresh snow and azure. It increases our mood to the max and we go as Fiďas says: „to the work“. There was really a lot of work, we could ride anywhere, simply the best riding of the whole week. In the evening we manage everything in local club on Happy Hour (an hour, when all drinks are half price) and returned to the Klondike.

The second week is almost over and the settlers from Havířov are replced by crew from Třinec (Buko, Sláva and Roštiak) and in another car (Mára, Zdenda and Fony). As there’s a photographer among them (Slavíček) so we plan to create some material. Unfortunately the weather doesn’t allow that, fog and heavy snowing discourages us so we earlier return. The next the weather improves, cloudy skies and 30 cm of new powder. We managed to snap some nice photos, for that we owe Sláva, and mostly we had a really good ride. With Filip we enjoyed this day most from the whole stay, we found some great terrain, dropped some rocks, simply everything what belongs to „powder day“. Also the third day ends and we packs and go back home. After three weeks it was a hard return to reality, but we can’t do anything, we can only look forward for another similar trip.
