Carinthia trip - Mölltaler Gletscher

Start of our trip in Carinthia

Insert: 26.12.2010
Our previous trip to Carinthia (Austria) was dividend to two main parts. This is the viset one because everything has neguj with this. So we left on the way in the interesting crew – Martin Klika, Marek Cepica, Igor, Martin, Vojta and David. I'm going with Igor in his nice Audi A4 and the way Igor said several times about how the Audi never let him stay on the road...

But what the devil did not want it to be changed in the early hours. In Vienna, we figured out that we have a problem with the wheel bearings. In Klagenfurt we already think that the wheel is broken. Blunt wound metal on metal are scary and we do nothing else than the decision to fix a wheel. David as experienced in the repair of the car was sent to the only things found in the car - oil, rags, license key for wheel and car lift. Molltal Powder Day was in jeopardy, so David decided to take full advantage of the oil and greased everything he could. Simple repair succeeded. Despite all the concerns we left towards Mölltal Gletcher.

After a grueling journey we slept on the empty parking for a while. Subsequently, in the style of "punk" we changed clothes right next to the cash desk, where everybody looks at us and do not understand from which galaxies we arrived ... The snow everywhere and we can say that it will be a mega powder day. Mart there runs like crazy, shouting: "Up there is an American powder"!

So we took a train that took us to the glacier, and then into the cabin and we were on top. But the reality is a little different than we dreamed about. Snow and all the conditions are not realy cool. Everything were icy.

But we were working with what we had got. We got a forecast based on snowforecast and we were shooting pics maily just powder turns and so. Not a big mountain riding. It's all pretty cold around -20 ° C and when it started to blow and the sun disappeard, we also disappeared at a local pub. Here we randomly met local rider “Kastanek”, who gave us a couple of tips for the other days.

The afternoon took place in a similar spirit of seeking real powder, but everything has improved our last powder line to train. Unfortunately, in the lower parts of the glacier is much less snow, there is a lot of stones - All sharks stones are lurking on our base. There were bunch of nice shoots, but the weather rewarded us with stunning yellow evening light, and just as we arrive at the last lift.
