Day P - powder day

Most of these pictures were not made on the PL camp, but especially the day after. All riders wend home but the core crew stayed in put.

It can be said that it would be a sin not to stay after 3 days of snowing when clouds were finally gone and sky was crystal clear. A 50 cm of new powder was waiting for us. Photos are amazing as you can see. Milerski Peter, Philip Paseka, Andy Blaha, Mark Cap and I were facing a real job to be done. The possibilities in the whole area were amazing. Disasters for your riding are amateurs in a free terrain. I mean when then got stock in traverses with no equipment, no proper and clothing etc.

In the upper part of the resort you could go on full throttle but in the lower parts you should be aware of base layer which was very hard. Bad luck choose Philip. He hit 3 times nasty rocks under the fresh pow. The temperature was below -20, so really freezing for us and the technique.

There is a mix photo in the gallery from previous days of camp. There are picture shooted by Slava and his group in resorts Maynhofen, Zillertahl Arena. Some pictures are shooted in quite miserable snow conditions. There is clear difference when the weather and its condition always affect riding and photography.

Ziller Valley

Area is is Austria´s paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Lovers of the ski slopes, open terrain or freestyle. The main advantage is the accessibility from the highway Salzburg - Innsbruck or Munich - Innsbruck. Following resorts in Zillertal valley are relatively close to each other - Kaltenbach - Figen - Hochfügen, Zell am Ziller - Zillertal Arena, Mayrhofen - Penken, Finkengerg - Hintertux. More information about the entire valley and all the facilities at: www.zillertal.at

Zell am Ziller - Zillertal Arena

It´s a large area above town Zell am Ziller, which is in the middle of the valley. The area is riddled by lifts and you are able to get to the Gerlos Pass, which links the Salzburglandem and Tyrol. Gerlos area is suitable for novice freeriders because it consists of large plains mostly oriented on the southern side of the Gerlos Pass. For freeriding is more suitable area around Kreuzjoch (2559 m). Here the PWL camp took place. There were about 7 ° C in 2400m in the day of our arrival and thanks to shapes of the mountains we were able to find some pow for riding. For mega lines you could hike to the Kreuzjoch and there you could choose what side of the mountain you want to ride first. More information about the center at: http://www.zillertalarena.com

Mayrhofen-Hippach Penken

This area is above the town called Mayrhofen. Also available from the village called Hippach. We recommend going from Hippach coz from Mayrhofen is quite rash and narrow streets for parking. Below the summit Horbergjoch there is great place for freeriding. To this great place you are taken by a large gondola, and when you hit a nice condition you can really rip the long runs in nice culoars. These are big mountain lines, so we do not recommend to beginners. For beginners it is better to go around the mountain from the other side to ride for super-long plains and then get traverse back to gondola. More information here: http://winter.mayrhofner-bergbahnen.com/

Zillertahl arena is so wide and in its essence cannot be explored within a week. We highly recommend these areas. Whole powderline gang was absolutely thrilled and for sure we were not here last. What concerning the ski tickets prices there is a classic Austrian price - one day about 42E and weekly pass for the entire region is about 199E. In our trip we visited just these two above mentioned resorts.
